Most of the times, you have high ping due to the distance between your current location and the server host's location. As the server's host hasn't been moved recently, then the reason your ping might have gotten higher is due to your own internet connection. It could be due to many varying factors, so in the case you do not have any ongoing updates/installations or any background applications on, I'd suggest you to contact your own ISP as that's the most logical way to deal with this matter.
